This Intermediate to Advanced Throwing Course aimed at potters wanting to improve their techniques and focusing on stretching their skills.
This is an intermediate level class, suited to students who have done beginners classes and are can centre and lift a cylinder of approx. 1kg. or have equivalent experience.
Students will learn about complex and larger forms, using specialist tools and encourages individual development delving into your own personal designs and expression. Demonstrations will be given as well as individual tuition to students. Students will have the opportunity to glaze their work throughout the term, and have help with understanding and developing techniques to improve application and exploring their areas of glaze interest.
So, whether you’re a keen amateur potter or wanting to get back into it, this course is suitable for a range of levels and will help you develop new skills, improve your techniques, deepen you practice, and give you time and space you need to work towards throwing larger works on the wheel.
Some topics we will work on include:
- Throwing larger bowls
- Wide serving dishes
- Deep dive into handlesv
- Throwing and altering, with slab additions
- Plates and platters
- Focusing on foot rings
- Glazing larger forms, using woks, spraying layers, using resists
- Personal development and critic sessions
